Civil Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Work Manager to oversee and coordinate civil and electrical maintenance activities. This role involves site supervision, material and inventory management, documentation, and reporting. The position is designed to support career progression toward roles such as Assistant Engineer or Executive Engineer.

Duties of Work Manager

The following outlines the responsibilities of a Work Manager involved in maintenance works, divided into Civil and Electrical areas:

Civil & Electrical Maintenance Operations:

Estimate Preparation: Gather engineering data, draft preliminary drawings, and develop site plans for cost estimation.

Site Supervision: Monitor ongoing work for adherence to specifications and standards; report substandard work and maintain site order records.

Material Management:

• Issue materials and tools to contractors in a timely manner.
• Maintain custody and security of government assets.
• Record measurements of received materials and work items.

Inventory & Storekeeping: Maintain accurate stock registers and ensure proper documentation of cement, curing, testing, and advances.

Work Measurement & Billing:

• Measure completed work and prepare calculation sheets.
• Compile abstracts and recovery statements for submission to the S.D.O.
• Prepare theoretical consumption statements.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain essential registers and submit monthly returns (Forms 35C, 8, 13, 14).
• Report progress and highlight work hindrances.
• Track attendance and productivity of staff and casual labor.

Building Inspection & Safety:

• Conduct regular inspections and report structural defects.
• Prepare completion documents including deviation and substitution statements.
• Submit accident reports and coordinate medical assistance.

Repair & Alteration Estimates: Draft estimates for annual, special, and minor repair works.

Encroachment & Occupancy Monitoring:

• Report unauthorized constructions.
• Track occupation and vacation status of buildings.

Technical Review & Verification:

• Validate drawings, tenders, survey reports, and arbitration cases.
• Calculate structural dimensions and verify material approvals.

Electrical Oversight:

• Assist in layout planning for installations.
• Monitor energy meters and verify electricity bills.
• Prepare and forward electrical service bills for payment.

These duties serve as a guideline and are not exhaustive. A Work Manager is expected to assist and support superiors in all duties necessary for future roles, such as Assistant Engineer or Executive Engineer, and adhere to administrative directives from the government.

🎓 Qualifications

• Diploma (3-year regular) or Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized institute.
• Preference for candidates with higher qualifications or relevant experience in government/corporate organizations.
• Proficient in computer operations and digital documentation.
• Working knowledge of Telugu is essential

Contract duration:

Engineer will be engaged for a period of two years which can be extended further depending on the requirement of work & performance of the individual.
