Deputy Manager - Finance
Role Summary:
The Plant Finance Controller is responsible for driving financial discipline, cost control, and accurate operational reporting at the plant level. The role oversees inventory governance, production‑related financial controls, and comprehensive month‑end closing activities. It ensures timely and accurate MIS, budgeting, variance analysis, and compliance with internal policies and audit expectations. The position partners closely with plant operations to enhance efficiency, optimize costs, and strengthen process controls. This is a hands‑on, SAP‑driven role requiring strong analytical skills and manufacturing finance expertise..
Roles and Responsibility:
- Ensure timely GRN posting for all domestic and import receipts, including depot stock transfers.
- Monitor manufacturing rejections and scrap; ensure daily and accurate accounting with proper valuation.
- Coordinate periodic perpetual inventory checks; investigate differences and ensure adherence to inventory valuation policies.
- Review Material Planning, Minimum Order Levels, and slow‑moving/obsolete stock; work with R&T, Business Partners, and Costing to drive liquidation actions.
- Validate routing changes, ensure timely TECO closure, and monitor/close production orders every month.
- Review production variances, breakdown Why‑Why analyses, and adherence to preventive maintenance plans in SAP.
- Validate production master data to avoid incorrect BOM selection; align routing standards (incl. power consumption) with actual usage.
- Approve plant‑related purchase requisitions after verifying need and cost justification; strengthen expense controls through reviews and budget monitoring.
- Lead monthly cost and performance reviews with plant head and senior management; drive cost‑reduction actions where required.
- Prepare and publish monthly Plant MIS covering conversion cost, overheads, production‑based P&L, inventory aging (RM/consumables/spares/FG), DIO, and Pegasus savings validation.
- Lead annual budgeting at plant level; support regional budgeting and provide monthly variance analysis vs budget.
- Manage all month‑end activities: G/L scrutiny, provisions (manpower, electricity, repairs, rent, BIS fees), cost‑center classification, CWIP review for timely capitalization, and supplier‑advance closure.
- Support Capex proposals and provide insights to HQ; assist in Fixed Asset Register validations.
- Support operational excellence projects, validate business cases, and track monthly savings.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and manage scrap billing with advance receipt controls.
- Ensure proper classification of cost centers during month‑end and throughout the year to maintain accuracy of plant‑level financial statements.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of spares and ensure discrepancies are investigated and closed with plant maintenance and store teams.
- Ensure billing of scrap against advance payments is completed timely, with correct documentation and accounting controls.
- Implement and monitor operational financial control procedures, including compliance with all Project Udaan checklist requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- CA or ICWAI qualified, with strong foundation in cost accounting, financial controls, and manufacturing finance.
- 7–8 years of hands‑on experience in plant finance, including inventory accounting, production order management, costing, and operational finance.
- SAP proficiency (FICO & PP modules) with practical experience in routings, BOMs, TECO, CWIP, cost centers, and month‑end closing activities.
- Strong exposure to statutory/internal audits, risk management, and compliance, with ability to implement corrective process controls at plant level.
- Proven capability in MIS reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and cross‑functional partnering with plant operations, maintenance, and corporate teams.
Role Specific Competencies:
- Strong SAP knowledge — mandatory.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical ability, problem‑solving skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate cross‑functionally.
- Detail‑oriented with solid organizational skills.
