About the role

We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to join our team in the Hyderabad, India office. This role needs a strong leader who is collaborative, a self-starter, can take ownership / accountability and drive results. This role will involve managing and working with distributed, global teams with multiple stakeholders. This person needs to be comfortable dealing with complexity and ambiguity.

Key responsibilities

• Help define Identity Platform roadmap for humans, machines and AI agents.

• Drive multi-region cloud strategy and own the services and capability delivery end to end.

• Help accelerate global AI-First strategy, with clear OKRs, milestones, and monthly reporting to senior leadership

• Work very closely with various business stakeholders to drive the execution of multiple business initiatives and technologies.

• Set short- and long-term vision, strategy, structure and direction for platform organization.

• Partners with all Business and Product Leaders to develop new product features and upgrade existing Identity Platform product and processes; helps define product and project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and testing, launch and release plans.

• Responsible for defining Digital Identity Strategy for migration and reengineering existing products & business processes on to Identity Platform.

• Build, develop and guide high-performing talent for this platform team. Define a long-term talent strategy cutting across IAM domains and technology.

• Manage web scale systems to demanding availability targets (99.999%)

• Stay abreast of leading-edge technologies in the industry, evaluating emerging IAM technologies and evangelizing their adoption.

• Manages an Agile development process in a continuous integration and deployment methodology.

• Empower software delivery teams to rapidly deliver software through the use of automation and “everything-as-code” best practices.

• Hands on approach to better understand the technical challenges faced by the team; guide the team in technical solutions.

• Drive architectural initiatives that align our business needs and technical capabilities for the Identity security platform.

• Represent Palo Alto Networks at various forums.

Core skills

• 15+ years of industry experience (6+ years in IAM and Information Security) and a B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science (Master's preferred). Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic, hands-on leader with exceptional communication skills.

• Deep expertise in Digital Identity and Access Management (IAM), including protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML 2.0), MFA, SCIM, SSO, federation, and access control models (RBAC/ABAC/PBAC/ReBAC).

• Comprehensive knowledge of web and application security, including networking fundamentals (HTTP/S, TCP, PKI, TLS), infrastructure components (WAFs, proxies, load balancers), and vulnerability standards (SANS Top 20, OWASP Top 10).

• Hands-on experience with Cloud-Native development, microservices, Kubernetes, and strong modern programming skills.

• Proven track record leading Agile/DevOps teams to deliver scalable, resilient multi-tenant SaaS applications, underpinned by a deep understanding of distributed computing, data structures, and system design.

• Demonstrated success managing and guiding international, distributed engineering and delivery teams.

• Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with security, privacy and compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST800-53, NIST800-63 and GDPR.

• Good understanding of big data technologies and analytics.

• Experience with information security threat modelling and risk analysis.

• AWS Certifications.
