Purchase Manager

The Purchase Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, timely availability of materials, and maintaining quality standards. The role includes vendor management, contract negotiation, inventory coordination, and compliance with company policies and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

•

Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies aligned with company goals.

•

Manage end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, negotiation, and order placement.

•

Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors as per company standards (including FSSC 22000 compliance where applicable).

•

Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value for the organization.

•

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure consistent supply of materials.

•

Monitor stock levels and coordinate with internal departments to forecast demand and avoid shortages.

•

Ensure timely processing of Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics) with proper documentation.

•

Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.

•

Ensure quality standards are met for all procured materials and resolve issues promptly.

•

Coordinate with finance/accounts for approvals, budgeting, and payment processes.

•

Prepare and present monthly MIS reports on procurement, cost analysis, and inventory.

•

Ensure all major purchases are approved by management before order placement.

•

Maintain strict confidentiality of company data and vendor information.

•

Oversee inventory control and ensure adequate stock levels at all times.

•

Monitor and manage food cost and procurement budgets effectively.

Qualification & Experience

•

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field

•

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in procurement/purchasing, preferably in food industry

•

Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation is essential

Additional Requirements

•

Strong understanding of inventory control and cost management

•

Familiarity with food safety standards (FSSC 22000 preferred)

•

Ability to handle multiple vendors and departments efficiently

•

In addition to the above-mentioned duties and job functions, will have to take up any other assignment given on an occasional basis or daily basis by the immediate superior or the management.
