Underwriter

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Senior Underwriter to lead underwriting activities, evaluate complex insurance risks, and ensure profitable business decisions in line with company underwriting policies. The candidate will play a key role in risk assessment, policy approvals, team coordination, and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite complex insurance proposals as per company guidelines.
• Analyze risk exposure, customer profiles, claims history, and financial information.
• Approve, decline, or modify insurance applications based on risk assessment.
• Review policy terms, coverage limits, exclusions, and premium calculations.
• Handle escalated underwriting cases and provide resolutions within TAT.
• Coordinate with sales, operations, claims, and compliance teams for smooth policy issuance.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify risk trends to improve profitability.
• Mentor and guide junior underwriters and support team development.
• Prepare underwriting reports, MIS, and business analysis for management review.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurers, brokers, and corporate clients.
• Support product development and process improvement initiatives.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Any Discipline.
• Insurance certifications such as III/LOMA/NIA or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Preferred Industry

• General Insurance / Health Insurance / Life Insurance / Insurance Broking
