Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Nandan GSE Pvt Ltd – Khalapur Facility

Reporting To: Head – Design / Engineering (or as assigned)

Department: Engineering & Design

1. Role Purpose

The Design Engineer will be responsible for mechanical design, 3D modelling, detailed engineering drawings, and engineering calculations for Ground Support Equipment (GSE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Defense systems, and allied mechanical products manufactured at Nandan GSE.

The role requires strong conceptual understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost optimization.

This is not merely a CAD operator position. The candidate must think, calculate, validate, and own the engineering output.

2. Working Conditions

• Work Location: Khalapur Office / Factory (40 km from Navi Mumbai)
• Work Schedule: 6 days per week except 3rd Saturday of every month as holiday. Sundays off.
• Timings: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
• Transportation: Company bus provision from Navi Mumbai to Khalapur
• Relocation Support: Staying allowance may be provided for candidates relocating to Khalapur (as per company policy)

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Design & Development

• Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Create manufacturing drawings with GD&T and tolerancing standards.
• Design mechanical systems including:
• Hydraulic structures
• Load-bearing frames
• Structural assemblies
• Sheet metal and welded structures
• Ensure designs are optimized for strength, cost, and manufacturability.

B. Engineering Calculations & Validation

• Perform engineering calculations including:
• Structural load calculations
• Stress analysis
• Factor of safety calculations
• Hydraulic system calculations
• Basic kinematics where applicable
• Validate design performance through theoretical calculations and design reviews.
• Work with production team to ensure design feasibility.

C. Project Support

• Support project teams in resolving technical challenges.
• Coordinate with PPC, Production, Procurement, and Quality departments.
• Participate in technical discussions with vendors and customers where required.
• Provide design revisions based on site feedback and testing results.

D. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain proper documentation control of drawings and revisions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and client requirements.
• Support QAP, ATP documentation where necessary.

4. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE / BTech) Diploma in Mechanical engineering with experience is also acceptable.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in mechanical design. In some case freshers will be accepted if they have a good experiecne with internships and design expertise.
• Prior experience in GSE, MHE, heavy fabrication, defense, or industrial equipment preferred

5. Technical Skills (Mandatory)
