Job Description: Quality Control Engineer

Location: Khalapur Factory – Nandan GSE Pvt. Ltd.

Working Days: 6 days/week (3rd Saturday Off)

Reporting To: Head – Industrial Engineering / COO

Industry: Material Handling Equipment / Ground Support Equipment / Defense Fabrication

Role Purpose

To ensure that all incoming materials, fabrication processes, assemblies, and finished products meet defined quality standards, drawings, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

The QC Engineer will drive zero-defect manufacturing through systematic inspections, documentation control, and root cause corrective action.


Key Responsibilities

1. Incoming Material Inspection

Inspect steel structures, bought-out components, hydraulic systems, electrical panels, and fabricated parts.

Verify against drawings, BOM, and specifications.

Maintain material test certificates (MTCs) and traceability records.

Coordinate with Purchase for vendor quality issues.

2. In-Process Quality Control

Conduct stage-wise inspections during fabrication and assembly.

Ensure adherence to welding procedures, dimensional tolerances, and structural specifications.

Monitor fitment, alignment, and mechanical assembly quality.

Identify deviations and stop incorrect processes when required.

3. Final Inspection & Dispatch Clearance

Perform final quality checks before dispatch.

Prepare inspection reports and clearance documents.

Ensure product meets customer GA, ATP, and QAP requirements.

4. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain quality documentation as per ISO/Defense requirements.

Update inspection formats, checklists, and control records.

Participate in internal and external audits.

Support QAP preparation and documentation for defense projects.

5. Root Cause & Corrective Action

Conduct basic root cause analysis for defects.

Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Reduce rework and rejection percentage.

Work closely with PPC, Design, and Production to prevent repeat errors.

6. Vendor Quality Monitoring

Support vendor development through quality audits.

Monitor rejection trends and improvement plans.

Coordinate for corrective action on non-conforming supplies.

Authority

Authority to hold or reject non-conforming materials/products.

Authority to escalate repeated quality issues to management.

Authority to stop production if quality deviation is critical.

Required Qualifications

Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

3–7 years experience in fabrication/engineering manufacturing

Experience in structural fabrication, hydraulics, or heavy equipment preferred

Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T basics

Knowledge of measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, etc.)

Basic knowledge of welding inspection preferred

Understanding of ISO systems

Preferred Skills

Ability to work on shop floor daily
