Job Description
HVAC technicians install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. They diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions, repair broken components (like compressors or motors), perform preventative maintenance to improve efficiency, and install new, energy-efficient units while complying with safety regulations.
Core Responsibilities and Tasks
- Installation: Setting up new AC units, furnaces, heat pumps, and ventilation systems, including ductwork fabrication and refrigerant piping.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Performing routine check-ups, cleaning coils, changing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and ensuring optimal system efficiency.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing faults using specialized tools and repairing or replacing defective parts.
- Customer Service: Explaining issues to clients, providing repair options, and recommending system upgrades.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring installations and repairs comply with local building codes, electrical requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Administrative Tasks: Completing service reports, managing inventory, and documenting work digitally.
