Production Supervisor

1.Key Responsibilities

Floor Operations & Production ControlOversee daily operations across knitting machines, linking, washing, finishing, and packing sections.

Ensure production lines start on time; verify machine settings, yarn availability, and work allocation.

Maintain real-time visibility of WIP and adjust manpower or workflow to avoid bottlenecks.

Actively monitor hourly output and take quick corrective action when targets drop.

2. Quality Assurance (On-Floor Execution)

Conduct in-process quality checks at knitting, linking, and finishing stages.

Identify defects (e.g., holes, loose stitches, tension issues, wrong trims) and guide operators to correct them immediately.

Ensure adherence to style specifications, measurements, and quality standards.

Escalate quality concerns to QA team and implement corrective action on the floor.

3. Manpower Handling

Assign operators, helpers, and ironers based on daily production plan.

Train new and existing staff on machine handling, quality expectations, and safety practices.

Motivate operators to maintain efficiency and discipline on the floor.

4. Machine & Technical Support

Ensure machines are set correctly for gauge, tension, yarn type, and stitch patterns.

Coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns, needle changes, and preventive servicing.

Troubleshoot minor machine issues on the spot to reduce downtime.

5. Production Planning Coordination

Work closely with Dispatch Executive to understand daily / weekly targets.

Provide accurate updates on WIP, output, defects, and machine status.

Ensure smooth flow of raw materials: yarn, trims, labels, buttons, threads, etc.

6. Documentation (Minimal Desk Work)

Maintain production logs, operator efficiency sheets, and downtime records.

Report daily production output, rejections, and shift performance.

Track yarn consumption and reduce material wastage.

7. Safety, Compliance

Enforce safety protocols for operators and machine handling.

Maintain a clean, organized production floor (5S implementation).

Ensure compliance with company standards and audit requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

3–7 years’ experience in knitwear manufacturing (sweaters, pullovers, cardigans, kidswear or similar).

Strong technical knowledge of knitting machines (flat knit, circular knit, computerized knitting).

Practical understanding of linking, washing, finishing, and packing processes.

Ability to identify and correct knitting defects and machine settings.

Proven experience in production supervision with floor-level responsibility.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in fast-paced, target-driven environments.

Hands-on, energetic, and results-oriented.

Comfortable standing/walking on the floor for most of the workday (not a desk job).

Quick decision maker with a practical approach.

Positive attitude and ability to manage workers effectively
