Job Purpose: Lead - HVAC is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective and efficient operation, maintenance, and energy management of HVAC systems. This role involves leading a team of HVAC technicians, developing policies and maintenance schedules, and implementing best practices for preventive and predictive maintenance. The Lead - HVAC is responsible for optimizing system performance, conserving energy, and minimizing operational costs while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Through strong leadership and technical expertise, the Lead aims to maintain high equipment availability and reliability, supporting a safe and comfortable environment for building occupants.
Operation and Maintenance of Chillers:
Oversee the operation of chillers, ensuring that they are running at maximum efficiency to provide consistent cooling performance.
Implement maintenance protocols, ensuring that all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are scheduled and completed on time, reducing downtime and improving overall system reliability.
Conduct regular inspections and analyze operational data to identify potential issues before they escalate and guide the team in troubleshooting and problem-solving, making necessary adjustments to optimize chiller performance and energy use.
Energy Conservation Initiatives:
Lead energy conservation initiatives by identifying areas of inefficiency within the HVAC systems and implementing industry best practices for energy saving and collaborate with the team to set and meet energy reduction goals, such as optimizing chiller setpoints and monitoring energy performance metrics.
Conduct periodic energy audits and assessments to identify patterns of excessive energy usage and implement improvements that promote more sustainable operation, such as advanced controls, automation, or use of alternative energy sources where feasible.
Purchasing and Inventory Control:
Manage the inventory levels for HVAC parts, tools, and equipment to balance availability and cost-effectiveness.
Work closely with procurement to ensure that critical parts are stocked without overloading inventory, reducing holding costs while maintaining availability for emergency repairs.
Establish strong vendor relationships by coordinating regular purchase order follow-ups to ensure timely delivery of supplies and regularly evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms to secure cost-effective, high-quality parts for HVAC system maintenance.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Planning:
Develop and oversee the preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) schedules, ensuring all HVAC equipment undergoes regular checks and services to maintain optimal performance. Set clear maintenance guidelines, monitor adherence to schedules, and adjust plans as necessary to accommodate operational demands.
Assess equipment performance data and feedback from the team to proactively address recurring issues, minimizing downtime and prolonging the life of the equipment. Implement predictive analysis techniques, such as vibration monitoring and thermography, to detect potential problems before they disrupt operations.
Safety Compliance and Regulations:
Ensure the team strictly adheres to workplace safety protocols, including PPE requirements, safe handling of refrigerants, and compliance with OSHA and industry-specific safety standards.
Implement risk mitigation strategies, like hazard identification and lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures, to create a safe working environment and regularly conduct safety audits and safety training sessions to maintain a high level of safety awareness and lead efforts to improve safety practices, encourage reporting of near-miss incidents, and work closely with the safety department to resolve any identified hazards.
Team Leadership and Development:
Guide and mentor the HVAC team members by clearly assigning roles and responsibilities, providing continuous support, and conducting regular performance reviews to address individual strengths and areas for improvement, and establish a collaborative culture to improve team productivity and ensure all tasks are aligned with company standards.
Develop and implement team policies that encourage a high standard of work, accountability, and a safe working environmen to foster a unified approach to HVAC maintenance and energy conservation.

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Work Experience:
- 10+ years and Minimum 5 years’ experience in Handling central chilling plant above 2000 Tons capacity with above 500 tons of individual chiller.
