The Role

As a Manager, Payroll with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

Role Purpose:

Worley Finance is in the midst of an exciting transformation, reimagining payroll delivery and building a revitalised, future‑ready capability within our WES shared service centre. Reporting to the WES Senior Payroll Manager, the Payroll Manager oversees the daily operations of centralised payroll services delivered from India, driving day‑to‑day operational excellence and ensuring consistent, accurate and reliable payroll outcomes across the business. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Payroll Execution
    • Manage day to day payroll processing activities for assigned countries or regions.
    • Ensure payroll inputs, processing, validations and outputs are completed to agreed standards and timelines.
    • Monitor payroll calendars and resolve operational issues and escalations within agreed service levels.
  • Quality, Controls & Compliance
    • Ensure payroll controls are executed effectively during every payroll cycle.
    • Validate payroll results, reconciliations, and approvals prior to sign off.
    • Support audits, control testing, and assurance activities as required.
    • Promote process discipline, documentation adherence, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Coordination
    •  Coordinate with Local Payroll, Finance, People, and vendors to ensure accurate inputs and issue resolution.
    • Act as point of contact for payroll delivery matters.
  • Operational Management – Service Provider
    • Manage day to day operational delivery of payroll transactions performed by Worley service provider.
    • Ensure service provider executes payroll activity in accordance with: 
    • Approved payroll calendars
    • Country specific processing requirements
    • Worley payroll SOPs and control standards
    • Review payroll outputs prepared by service provider  and ensure appropriate validations and approvals are completed.
    • Track operational performance issues, errors, and rework, and coordinate timely resolution.
  • Operational Management – (Payroll Processing & Platforms)
    • Act as day to day operational interface with payroll vendor(s) for payroll processing matters.
    • Coordinate issue resolution, defect management, and processing clarifications with payroll vendor teams.
    • Ensure payroll vendor pay cycles are validated, reconciled and approved in line with Worley controls.
    • Support payroll testing, releases, and country specific changes in coordination with payroll vendor(s).
  • Performance Reviews & Continuous Improvement
    • Prepare and complete pay cycle review with location payroll team and other stakeholders.
    • Prepare and contribute to monthly vendor performance reviews for both Worley payroll service provider and centralised payroll vendor(s).
    • Collate operational metrics, error trends, escalations, and improvement opportunities.
    • Engage with local Payroll, People and Finance teams to: 
    • Validate service performance
    • Identify recurring pain points
    • Align remediation priorities
    • Support the Payroll Senior Manager with data, insights, and recommendations for senior service reviews.
  • Escalation & Risk Management
    • Act as first point of escalation for operational delivery issues involving payroll service provider or payroll vendor(s).
    • Ensure incidents are logged, investigated, and resolved with clear ownership.
    • Support root cause analysis and ensure identified actions are implemented and embedded.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve payroll stability.
    • Support country migrations, transitions, and change initiatives led by Payroll Transformation.

About You 

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

  • Strong operational payroll management experience.
  • Global Payroll Association, PayrollOrg or similar (e.g. CIPP (UK) Global Payroll Management Certificates) membership and qualifications (preferred).
  • Hands on understanding of payroll processing, validations, and reconciliations.
  • Experience working in centralised or shared service payroll environments.
  • Detail oriented, disciplined, and execution focused leader.
  • Requirements of Role
