The Role

As a Principal Electrical Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

General Purpose of Role : Determines methods and solutions for complex electrical engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner for meeting objectives. Applies advanced electrical engineering techniques and analysis. Serves as a technical consultant in electrical systems and may provide discipline supervision across projects.

Typically Reports To :Discipline Manager (Electrical)

• Business Development Support :Supports proposals by developing electrical execution strategies, cost estimates, and technical documentation. Builds strong client, supplier, and contractor relationships.
• Business Operations: Manages team resource planning, supports training and performance reviews, ensures compliance with HSE and project standards, and resolves inter-discipline issues.
• Technical Competency: Ensures compliance with IEC/IEEE/IS standards. Leads reviews of SLDs, load lists, cable sizing, and earthing systems. Drives standardization and technical excellence.
• Project Execution: Supports planning and execution of electrical scope, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met. Coordinates across disciplines and manages changes.
• Project Deliverables: Prepares and reviews electrical studies (load flow, short circuit, etc.), specifications, and technical documentation. Resolves technical queries and secures approvals.
• Procurement Support: Prepares material requisitions, evaluates vendor bids, reviews drawings, and supports procurement processes.
• Site Support: Supports construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Participates in FAT/SAT and system handover.

About You 

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 18+ years of EPC/EPCM experience. Strong background in power systems, substations, and industrial electrical design.

• Leadership Scope: Manages up to 10 engineers/designers, ensuring technical quality and delivery. Acts as SME for electrical discipline.
• Systems & Tools: MS Office (essential). ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Smart Plant (desirable).
• HSE Capability: Ensures safe design practices and compliance with all electrical safety standards and HSE requirements.
• People Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with high accountability.
