Position 1 Senior Infrastructure Engineer Linux VMware 1216 Years

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Linux and VMware environments capable of managing complex enterprise infrastructure landscapes The role involves end to end responsibility for OS administration virtualization automation security and close alignment with database storage and application teams in a mission critical environment

Key Responsibilities

Linux OS Management Primary Focus

Manage upgrade and patch Linux servers across environments

Troubleshoot complex OSlevel issues performance degradations and stability concerns

Proactively manage CPU memory disk and filesystem bottlenecks

Handle user and access administration in line with security policies

Address vulnerabilities and security findings through structured remediation and patching

Manage and operate Katello for automated patching and lifecycle management

Virtualization Platform Management

Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure vCenter ESXi virtual machines

Perform capacity planning resource optimization and VM lifecycle operations

Support VM provisioning resizing and decommissioning activities

Automation Configuration Management

Manage Puppet for configuration compliance and standardization

Ensure infrastructure consistency through automation and reusable configurations

Operations ITSM

Handle Incidents Changes and Service Requests in line with ITIL processes

Participate in root cause analysis RCA and continuous improvement initiatives

Support application upgrades on request in coordination with stakeholders

Cross Domain Infrastructure Responsibilities

Working knowledge expected

Support Oracle Database administration including patching and upgrades in collaboration with DB teams

Manage backup and monitoring across infrastructure components

Administer HP server hardware firmware upgrades and break fix activities

Manage SAN switches and SAN storage including zoning and troubleshooting

Required Skills Experience

1216 years of experience in Linux system administration in large enterprise environments

Strong hands on experience with VMware infrastructure

Experience with Puppet Katello and automated patching tools

Solid understanding of infrastructure security and vulnerability management

Exposure to Oracle Database administration patching upgrades

Experience working in 24x7 production support environments

Strong troubleshooting ownership and stakeholder communication skills
