Deputy General Manager - Safety
Responsibilities
Safety Program Implementation:
Plan, direct, and oversee APSEZ HSEF programs covering fire safety, hazardous materials management, hygiene, accident prevention, and risk management. Ensure effective training, execution, and evaluation of these programs.
Training & Safety Awareness:
Develop and promote continuous safety awareness programs for both employees and contractors to foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Risk Management:
Eliminate risks of occupational injuries, illnesses, and property losses by implementing recognized loss prevention and control techniques.
Incident Investigation & Corrective Action:
Lead thorough investigations of major incidents and accidents, review outcomes with department heads, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to state and central statutory safety requirements and industry standards across all operations.
Emergency Response Preparedness:
Plan, review, and conduct regular emergency and spill response exercises to ensure preparedness and effectiveness of response measures.
Health & Hygiene Oversight:
Oversee periodic health check-ups for employees as per the annual plan to ensure workforce health and safety.
IMS Documentation & Compliance:
Manage and maintain safety processes, documentation, and reporting in compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
Brand Positioning:
Ensure Adani's brand values are shown in all interactions. Strengthen relationships to boost the organization's brand and trust within the market and company.
Digital Mindset:
Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.
Team Development:
Promote a respectful and safe workplace, lead collaborative and productive teams, and mentor for growth and success.
Key Stakeholders - Internal:
EHS Teams, Operational and Maintenance Teams, Cross-functional Teams (Engineering, HR)
Key Stakeholders - External:
Safety Auditors, Regulatory Bodies (OSHA, local safety authorities), Vendors (PPE Suppliers, Contractors), Safety Consultants
Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
B. Tech in Mechanical/Chemical Eng (Desirable – Diploma in safety), preferably a NEBOSH
Work Experience:
Minimum 18-20 years of experience in Managing Safety function in Port/Mining
