Deputy Manager - Operation & Maintenance
Responsibilities
Plant Operations Execution:
Perform the on-field operational activities for the thermal power plant units, including the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG), switchyard, and Balance of Plant (BoP).
Support activities during plant startup, shutdown, and tripping events to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Monitor plant parameters and performance to optimize efficiency and reduce auxiliary power consumption.
Execute recommissioning of units after Annual Overhaul (AOH) and Capital Overhaul (COH) under the direction of the Maintenance Department.
Adhere to the department budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as per the DISHA process and implement measures to improve them.
Provide operational support for equipment isolation, normalization, and routine changeovers.
Support initiatives aimed at reducing specific demineralized (DM) water consumption, leakages, and improving heat rate for energy conservation.
Coordination and Documentation:
Provide necessary information required by the fuel team and technical committee (TC) teams for manpower requirements and support services.
Provide support to the Maintenance Department during overhauling and unit outage activities as per instructions from the Team Lead.
Assist with the follow-up on PRs raised by the team and support technical evaluations as needed
Maintain accurate documentation of all plant parameters, equipment trials, changeovers, and compliance with legal requirements.
Business Sustainability:
Adhere to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Assist in external audits as part of the departmental team.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the plant operations area.
Adhere to safety protocols to ensure personnel and equipment safety.
Adhere to the Permit to Work (PTW) system and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for efficient operations within the plant.
Update and maintain SOPs, ensuring they reflect current best practices and regulatory standards.
Instruct desk and field operators on the safe operation of the power plant, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Digitization and Automation:
Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
Qualifications
Education Qualification:
BE/B.tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 9+ years of experience in power plant operations with a focus on thermal power plants
Preferred Industry:
Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.
