Sr. Manager- Nagpur Hub

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Sr. Manager at the Nagpur Hub within the Farm Division of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising commodity purchases that support our supply chain operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough market research and supplier evaluations to identify competitive pricing and quality value for commodities essential to our manufacturing process.
  • Leading negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, optimal pricing, and timely delivery schedules.
  • Compiling and analysing price data from various suppliers to inform purchasing decisions and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Preparing and overseeing formal purchasing documents and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Serving as a primary liaison between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and commodity suppliers, fostering strong professional relationships to facilitate smooth transactions and partnership growth.
  • Monitoring and tracking market price fluctuations to proactively adjust purchasing strategies, securing the best possible cost position for the organisation.
  • Analysing historical commodity usage and inventory levels in conjunction with current market trends to recommend adjustments to purchasing schedules and inventory management.
  • Ensuring all commodity purchase transactions are executed with accuracy and timeliness, coordinating cross-functionally to align supply chain activities with business demands.
  • Collaborating with supply chain planning and control teams to integrate purchasing activities into broader operational planning and execution.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational foundation in engineering, specifically:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering, which provides essential technical knowledge relevant to the automotive and manufacturing industries.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles pertaining to materials, processes, and supply chain implications within a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management concepts is advantageous, complementing the technical background to ensure informed decision-making.

  • Hands-on experience utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and SAP software to facilitate procurement transactions, inventory control, and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyse market trends and supplier pricing to support strategic sourcing decisions that optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supplier negotiation, contract management, and maintaining productive vendor relationships within a dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Experience applying leadership competencies such as strategic business orientation, customer focus, and innovation to drive supply chain improvements and cost efficiencies.
  • A track record of executing procurement activities with high levels of accuracy, accountability, and agility, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.

  • Proficiency in leveraging SAP and advanced MRP functionalities to streamline procurement processes, monitor price trends, and manage supplier performance metrics.
  • Experience contributing to leadership initiatives aligned with Mahindra's core competencies, including sustainability strategies, customer delight, innovation, and team development.
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to business opportunities and challenges on a global scale, applying strategic foresight and maintaining a global mindset in procurement decisions.
