Special Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Implementation

• Implement the DISHA curriculum and Montessori methods, ensuring individualized learning plans (IEPs) are designed and followed based on each child's needs and abilities.
• Develop and deliver lessons that foster academic, social, and behavioural development for neurodiverse children.
• Utilize evidence-based strategies like Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and sensory integration techniques to enhance learning outcomes.

Assessment and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

• Collaborate with parents and psychologists to conduct comprehensive assessments, identifying the specific needs of each child.
• Develop and monitor IEPs based on VSMS scores, adjusting the teaching approach as needed to support the child’s progress.
• Ensure that both special needs curriculum and Montessori methods are implemented effectively for each child.

Inclusive Classroom Management

• Maintain a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8, ensuring individualized attention for each child.Foster positive behaviour through structured routines, consistent reinforcement, and personalized strategies.
• Monitor and track each child's academic and behavioural progress, making adjustments to teaching strategies as necessary.

Collaboration with Parents and Staff

• Build strong relationships with parents by providing regular feedback on their child’s progress and discussing strategies to support learning at home.
• Work closely with behavioural therapists and other staff members to create a cohesive support system for each child.
• Address parental concerns regarding their child's future, ensuring that they receive comprehensive support throughout their educational journey.

Ongoing Professional Development

• Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in special education by attending workshops, conferences, and training programs.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to curriculum development that supports the mission of creating self-sufficient and future-ready children.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate records of each child’s progress, attendance, IEPs, and behavioral reports.
• Ensure compliance with policies, educational standards, and relevant legal requirements.
