Job Description: Study Abroad Academic Counsellor

Role Objective

As a Study Abroad Academic Counsellor, you will be the primary guide for students aspiring to pursue higher education internationally. You will bridge the gap between a student's academic background and their global career aspirations by providing data-driven, empathetic, and strategic counseling. At Vidysea, you won't just suggest universities; you will help students build a roadmap for their future using our proprietary tech-enabled guidance ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Counseling & Profile Evaluation

Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to understand students' academic interests, career goals, and financial constraints.

Evaluate student profiles (GPA, test scores, extracurriculars) to provide a "best-fit" list of global universities and programs.

Advise on country-specific educational systems (USA, UK, Canada, Europe, Australia, etc.).

2. Application & Admission Management

Guide students through the end-to-end application process, including documentation, SOP (Statement of Purpose) editing, and LOR (Letter of Recommendation) guidance.

Ensure timely submission of applications and maintain rigorous follow-ups with university admissions offices.

Assist in scholarship identification and application strategies.

3. Test Prep & Prerequisite Guidance

Advise students on necessary standardized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, or SAT.

Collaborate with the internal tech/content teams to provide students with the right preparatory resources.

4. Post-Admission Support

Provide comprehensive guidance on the student visa application process and documentation.

Conduct pre-departure briefings, covering accommodation, health insurance, and cultural adaptation.

5. Business Growth & Product Feedback

Maintain a high conversion rate from lead to enrollment while ensuring student satisfaction.

Utilize and provide feedback on internal CRM and guidance tools (like PathLynks) to improve the counselor and student experience.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience: 2–5 years of experience in overseas education counseling or international admissions.

University Portfolio: Strong preference for candidates who have successfully placed students in premium, Ivy League, Russell Group, or Top 100 QS-ranked universities.

Knowledge: Deep understanding of global education cycles, visa regulations, and high-tier university admission criteria.

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; ability to influence and inspire high-achieving students and parents.

Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using CRM software and digital communication tools.

Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, patience, and a "student-first" mindset.
