Draftsman

Draughtsman Job Description :

We are looking for a skilled Draughtsman with experience in mechanical design and

drafting for process equipment and fabrication drawings. The ideal candidate should

have strong knowledge of AutoCAD and mechanical engineering fundamentals, and

the ability to prepare accurate fabrication and GA drawings for pressure vessels,

storage tanks, heat exchangers, reactors, structural supports, and piping layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, detail part

drawings, and assembly drawings for process equipment.

Create 2D/3D drafting based on engineering calculations and client specifications.

Interpret and convert design calculations, datasheets, P&IDs, and process layouts

into accurate drawings.

Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), welding symbols, material specifications, and

thickness details as per standards.

Collaborate with design engineers, production, procurement, and quality teams.

Ensure compliance with relevant design standards such as ASME, IS, BS, and API.

Modify and revise drawings as per client feedback or engineering revisions

(RFI/DRN).

Maintain drawing records and documentation as per company procedures.

Support quality and inspection teams during fabrication.

Required Skills & Competencies

Proficient in AutoCAD (mandatory), SolidWorks/Inventor (added advantage)

Knowledge of pressure vessel drafting and fabrication drawings

Understanding of industry standards (ASME Section VIII, IS 2825, etc.)

Good visualization and mechanical interpretation skills

Ability to read P&ID, GA, and layout drawings

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Good communication and teamwork skills

Qualification & Experience:

Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or Draughtsman (Mechanical)

2 to 5 years of experience in fabrication or process equipment industry

Experience in equipment like reactors, storage tanks, heat exchangers, pressure

vessels, filters, agitators preferred.
