Factory HR Job Description
Role: Human Resources Executive / Manager - Factory/Plant
Location: Usually on-site at manufacturing unit
Core responsibilities:
- Recruitment & workforce planning: Hiring blue/white collar staff, contract labor, and seasonal workers. Coordinate with production for manpower forecasting.
- Compliance & labor laws: Handle PF, ESI, Factories Act, Contract Labor Act, minimum wages, bonus, overtime. Maintain statutory registers and deal with labor inspectors.
- Payroll & attendance: Verify shift attendance, OT, leave records. Coordinate payroll with finance for 1000+ workers if needed.
- Employee relations: Grievance handling, disciplinary actions, union/association negotiations. Keep shop floor morale stable.
- Safety & training: Work with EHS team on safety training, induction for new workers, skill upskilling. Track training compliance.
- Policy & HR ops: Draft HR policies specific to factory - shift rules, canteen, transport, PPE. Maintain service records, exit formalities.
Key skills needed:
- Knowledge of Indian labor laws + Factory Act
- Handling large blue-collar workforce
- Negotiation skills for unions/disputes
- Shift management and 24x7 plant mindset
- HRMS/attendance system + Excel
