Role Description
- The Director for the Data Center Network Product family is accountable for the strategy, engineering direction, and the delivery roadmap for a reliable, and secure Data Center Network Product for the Bank globally.
- The role, positioned in Pune, is in the connective tissue of the organization and covers the end-to-end lifecycle of the product family. It requires deep networking expertise, strong product leadership, and the ability to orchestrate the architecture, engineering, automation and tooling teams, oversee the transformation and deployment programs and ensure smooth handover into operations.
- To achieve this, the role also carries full program oversight for all network‑related activities within GTIs Data Center initiatives, including Data Center builds, -migrations, -consolidations, -decommissions, and support of strategic transformation programs. The Director ensures all network deliverables across these programs meet scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.

Your key responsibilities
Product Leadership & Strategy
- Own the Data Center Network Product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall GTI and GNS strategy.
- Drive technology modernization, platform standardization, and network architecture alignment.
- Ensure all product developments and implementations adhere to global architectural, regulatory, and control frameworks.
Engineering & Delivery Ownership
- Lead cross‑functional delivery through close cooperation and collaboration with Engineering, Deployment, Automation, and Operations teams, ensuring consistent and predictable product delivery.
- Oversee major Data Center network projects, upgrades, migrations, and transformation programs.
- Ensure implementation quality, configuration uniformity, and on‑time handover into operations.
- Interface to datacenter and systems platform leadership in the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Organization for joint investment planning.
Automation & Modernization
- Drive aggressive adoption of automation, AI‑driven tooling, and platform simplification across the Data Center network product area.
- Reduce product complexity by rationalizing versions, generations, and legacy technologies.
Governance, Assurance & Risk Management
- Ensure the product adheres to enterprise controls, change governance frameworks, and operational risk standards.
- Oversee reporting, risk reviews, product health metrics, and compliance with technology roadmaps.
- Establish consistent controls, documentation, change readiness, and compliance across the global estate.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the single point of accountability for the Data Center network product for architecture, operations, security, and senior business stakeholders.
- Partner with technology leads, security organizations, platform heads, and global infrastructure teams.
- Provide clear communication across executive forums, steering committees, and senior leadership meetings.
Program & Project Management Leadership
The Director will serve as the senior Program Leader for all network‑related activities within Data Center programs globally.
Strategic Program Ownership
- Own the full program lifecycle for all Data Center network‑related initiatives — including planning, execution, governance, and transition to BAU.
- Serve as the accountable owner for network deliverables within Data Center migrations, site consolidations, new Data Center hall builds, capacity expansions, platform refreshes, and resilience programs.
Program & Portfolio Planning
- Develop multi‑year delivery plans, including resource forecasting, budget creation, sequencing of workstreams, and prioritization aligned to strategic roadmaps.
- Translate business objectives into detailed program charters, scope definitions, and success criteria.
- Maintain a consolidated portfolio view of all active and upcoming Data Center network projects.
Execution Leadership & Delivery Control
- Lead multiple parallel workstreams covering network design, provisioning, deployment, cutover planning, automation, and operational readiness.
- Establish and run structured program governance, including SteerCos, working groups, and RAID forums.
- Ensure dependencies across compute, storage, facilities, architecture, and cyber security are identified and managed.
Project Management Excellence
- Drive detailed project planning including WBS creation, schedule management, task sequencing, and resource alignment.
- Enforce disciplined RAID processes (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) with proactive mitigation and escalation.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation, status reporting, dashboards, and KPIs.
Data Center Move & Migration Leadership
- Lead network workstreams for major Data Center moves, decomms, and consolidations, ensuring end‑to‑end connectivity planning and cutover execution.
- Coordinate migration rehearsals, runbooks, fallback procedures, and command‑center operations.
- Ensure stability, resiliency, and service continuity during high‑risk Data Center events.
Budget, Financial & Vendor Management
- Own network program budgets including forecasting, capex/opex allocation, spend tracking, and financial approvals.
- Negotiate with vendors, manage SOWs, oversee delivery obligations, and monitor partner performance.
- Ensure cost efficiency, contract compliance, and optimization in vendor‑delivered workstreams.
Quality, Risk & Compliance Management
- Ensure delivery quality through design reviews, implementation audits, and adherence to standard patterns.
- Lead risk and issue management across all network program components with transparent tracking and escalation.
- Oversee readiness assessments, operational acceptance, and controlled cutover governance.
Communications & Reporting
- Deliver regular program updates to senior leadership, including metrics, risks, achievements, and recovery plans.
- Ensure alignment and transparency with business partners, operations teams, and infrastructure leadership.
Your skills and experience
Experience
- 10+ years in large‑scale network engineering, product management, or network operations roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading major Data Center programs (moves, migrations, consolidations, expansions).
- Strong background in Data Center networking: routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, hybrid cloud networking, and Zero‑Trust / segmentation.
- Extensive experience leading globally distributed teams in a matrix environment.
- Proven experience modernizing network platforms and driving automation.
- Strong experience in program governance, technology transformation, and multi‑workstream execution.
Technical Competencies
- Deep knowledge of Data Center network technologies and architectures.
- Certifications preferred: CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, cloud networking certifications.
- Understanding of cloud and hybrid network architectures.
- Familiarity with Data Center facilities concepts (power, cooling, hall layouts) beneficial, though not required.
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
- Strong leadership presence, excellent communication, stakeholder influence, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to drive complex transformation programs across regions and functions.
- High customer orientation and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and execute in high‑pressure, mission‑critical environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
