POSITION SUMMARY

• This position is responsible for establishing, building, and managing the BIM Engineering function at the Global Engineering Centre (GEC) in Pune, India, with a primary focus on Data Center and Mission Critical infrastructure projects globally.
• Manager will lead BIM delivery and digital engineering initiatives, driving BIM governance, high-quality model delivery, automation adoption, Digital Twin readiness, and alignment with Vertiv's product-centric and system-based approach across all disciplines.
• The scope of work managed by this position includes:
  • BIM Strategy & Governance – Standards, workflows, BIM Execution Plans, ISO 19650 compliance, and Vertiv BIM protocol enforcement across Business Units and regional teams
  • BIM Delivery & Coordination – Multi-disciplinary BIM coordination (Architecture, Structural, MEPF), federated model management, clash detection, and quality assurance for large-scale data center projects
  • BIM Automation & Digital Innovation – Dynamo, Python, APIs, parametric design, generative design, Digital Twin readiness, and VR/AR/MR visualization
  • Team Building & Centre of Excellence – Building the BIM team from the ground up at GEC Pune, establishing it as a global Centre of Excellence for BIM delivery in the data center domain
• This is a senior leadership role requiring deep MEP/data center expertise, hands-on experience with BIM automation, and proven ability to build and lead high-performing global teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• BIM Strategy, Governance & Standards
  1. Define and govern BIM standards, workflows, and execution strategies for Data Center and Mission Critical infrastructure projects globally
     1. Author, review, and approve BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) aligned with mission-critical requirements and client mandates
     2. Drive ISO 19650-1/2 alignment and Vertiv BIM protocol compliance across all projects and regions
     3. Ensure consistency of BIM standards, naming conventions, and workflows across Business Units and regional teams
     4. Establish BIM maturity roadmap for GEC Pune, driving progressive capability development
     5. Define LOD (Level of Development) specifications and model progression requirements for data center projects
     6. Lead BIM standards and workflows development, implementation, and enforcement globally
     7. Support key software implementation decisions and ensure teams are trained and proficient
• Team Building & People Management
  1. Build and scale the BIM engineering team at GEC Pune from the ground up, defining hiring plans and team structure:
     1. BIM Leads (discipline-specific BIM leadership)
        1. BIM Coordinators (model coordination, clash detection, quality audits)
           1. BIM Modelers (Revit modeling, content creation, documentation)
              1. BIM Automation Specialists (Dynamo, Python, API development)
  2. Develop and execute recruitment strategy to attract top BIM talent in the Pune region
  3. Establish structured onboarding programs, training roadmaps, and technical skill development plans
  4. Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual and team goals, and drive career development and succession planning
  5. Plan resource allocation, skill development, and succession planning across all BIM sub-functions
  6. Foster a culture of quality, innovation, continuous improvement, and high-performance
  7. Mentor and coach BIM professionals to develop expertise in data center BIM, automation, and digital engineering
  8. Drive employee engagement and retention through meaningful work assignments, recognition, and growth opportunities
  9. Develop new skills and knowledge within the team through internal and external education programs
• Project & Delivery Management
  1. Oversee BIM delivery for large-scale Data Center, Industrial, Infrastructure, and Commercial projects
  2. Manage multi-disciplinary BIM coordination (Architecture, Structural, MEPF) ensuring integrated model delivery
  3. Ensure timely delivery of models, drawings, federated BIM outputs, and coordination reports
  4. Review and approve BIM deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements
  5. Manage BIM project environment setup, model management, and documentation standards
  6. Conduct regular BIM model audits and quality control of content created by the team
  7. Oversee creation and updating of BIM Project Execution Plans for each project
  8. Ensure training, support, and oversight of day-to-day activities of Revit users to maintain BIM standards
  9. Manage project assignments, workload balancing, and capacity planning across multiple concurrent projects
• Technical Expertise & Innovation
  1. Drive expert-level MEP-centric BIM for Data Centers and Infrastructure projects
  2. Lead BIM Automation initiatives: Dynamo scripts, Python tools, API integrations for productivity improvement
  3. Champion Digital Twin readiness – ensuring BIM models support operational handover and facility management
  4. Drive adoption of advanced visualization technologies (VR/AR/MR) for design review and client presentations
  5. Oversee experience with as-built and operational BIM models for data center lifecycle management
  6. Lead knowledge of prefabrication, modular construction, and system-driven design within BIM workflows
  7. Drive parametric and generative design approaches for data center modular solutions
  8. Evaluate and implement emerging BIM technologies, AI-assisted design, and cloud collaboration platforms
  9. Ensure BIM content creation, family libraries, and templates are optimized for data center components (UPS, cooling, switchgear, racks, containment, cable management)
• Stakeholder & Client Coordination
  1. Work closely with internal stakeholders, global engineering teams, and external consultants
  2. Act as primary BIM point of contact for clients and senior leadership
  3. Support pre-sales, proposals, Statements of Work (SoW), and technical presentations
  4. Ensure compliance with contract requirements and client BIM mandates
  5. Coordinate with global Project Lead Engineers, Chief Project Engineers, and Project Managers
  6. Participate in and lead kick-off meetings, project team meetings, and client meetings as GEC Pune BIM representative
  7. Report project status, team performance metrics, BIM maturity progress, and capacity utilization to senior leadership
• Cross-functional Collaboration
  1. Drive proactive cooperation with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, controls, and fire protection disciplines
  2. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Site Deployment teams to ensure BIM supports prefabrication and modular construction workflows
  3. Cooperate with Site Managers during assembly, providing BIM-based technical solutions
  4. Collaborate with Quality Control using BIM for quality verification and as-built validation
  5. Support Commissioning engineers with BIM-based testing documentation and system verification
  6. Coordinate with global engineering centres and BIM Engineering departments for knowledge sharing and standardization
  7. Provide BIM coordination support during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
• Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
  1. Establish and drive continuous improvement programs for BIM processes, tools, and deliverable quality
  2. Implement knowledge management systems for BIM libraries, standard content, lessons learned, and reusable templates
  3. Drive automation of repetitive BIM tasks to improve team productivity and reduce cycle time
  4. Benchmark GEC Pune BIM performance against global engineering centres and industry best practices
  5. Define and track BIM KPIs: model quality scores, clash resolution rates, delivery timelines, automation adoption, and team productivity
  6. Apply continuous improvement mindset to processes, tools, and delivery models
  7. Drive change and innovation leadership across the BIM function

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Structural/Mech Engineering; M.Tech preferred
• Experience: 14+ years in Arch./Civil design, 5+ years team leadership
• Proven data center / mission-critical facility BIM experience is essential
• Language: English fluent; Hindi/Marathi preferred

Technical Skills

• Expert in Autodesk Revit (MEP, Architecture, Structure)
• Advanced in Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360
• Strong BIM Automation experience: Dynamo, Python, APIs
• Experience with Digital Twin platforms and operational BIM models
• Knowledge of prefabrication, modular construction, and system-driven design
• Visualization tools: VR/AR/MR for design review and client engagement
• MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
• PLM/PDM systems experience preferred
