POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Catalyst Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that KBR catalyst products consistently meet defined quality, performance, and regulatory requirements throughout manufacturing, handling, storage, and shipment. This role supports KBR catalyst business by implementing quality systems, analyzing product data, managing non‑conformances, and driving continuous improvement in catalyst quality and reliability
KEY RESPONSIBILITY:
Quality Control & Assurance
- Ensure KBR catalyst products meet internal specifications and customer requirements for physical, chemical, and performance properties
- Develop, maintain, and approve catalyst quality plans, inspection procedures, and test protocols
- Review and release catalyst batches based on catalyst quality plan
- Support qualification of raw materials, intermediates, and finished catalyst products at Catalyst manufacturing sites
Manufacturing & Process Support
- Work closely with KBR catalyst partners to ensure quality is built into catalyst manufacturing processes
- Investigate quality deviations, out‑of‑spec (OOS) results, and customer complaints; lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support scale‑up, technology transfer, and startup of new catalyst products or processes
Laboratory & Data Analysis
- Review and interpret catalyst characterization data (e.g., surface area, pore volume, particle size, composition, strength, activity/selectivity data)
- Ensure analytical methods are validated, controlled, and consistently applied
- Use statistical tools to monitor product quality
Compliance & Systems
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, internal QA/QC standards, customer audits)
- Support internal and external audits related to catalyst quality and manufacturing
- Ensure proper documentation, batch records, and traceability of catalyst materials
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve catalyst quality, yield, consistency, and manufacturability
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, cost, and operational efficiency
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
Experience
- Typically 5–8 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or process engineering within catalyst, chemical, refining, or materials manufacturing
- Hands‑on experience with catalyst production or testing is strongly preferred
- Experience supporting licensed catalyst technologies or customer‑specific catalyst specifications
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of heterogeneous catalysts and catalyst manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with catalyst characterization techniques and performance testing
- Knowledge of quality systems, statistical quality control, and root cause analysis
- Proficiency in data analysis tools
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities
- High attention to detail with a proactive, ownership‑driven mindset
WORKING CONDITION:
- Combination of office, laboratory, and manufacturing plant environment
- Frequent travel to production sites or customer facilities may be required (30-35% travelling)
