Purpose of the Job
The purpose of this job is to handle and deliver projects with medium to high complexity & size as per the agreed gross margin, DOT and quality for one or more application area. The complexity of a project is dependent on the newness and complexity of the involved process/es and the level of customer / consultant requirements. Keep and improve good relations with the customers.
This role reports to Manager – Customer Project Management and would be responsible for:
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Execute & Monitor the project activities
- Manage project development from beginning to end i.e through Engineering -> Procurement-> Construction -> Commissioning -> Handover. Follow the 6 Basics & live up to the vision of ‘World Class Project Management’.
- Define project scope, goals and deliverables based on agreed contract.
- Estimate the resources needed to achieve project goals.
- Develop project plan considering project dependencies and critical path and schedule project timelines/ milestones using appropriate tools viz. MS Project & monitor.
- Develop communication documents.
- Deliver progress reports, purchase proposals, requirements & documentation.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
- Coordinate for implementing best practices/ tools for effective project execution and management.
- Estimate & submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes as & when required.
- Coordinate with relevant departments for smooth execution of project.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Escalate issues in timely manner, if they are not getting resolved within acceptable timeline.
- Organise weekly Project Follow-up Meetings (reference EDGE) and ensure that updated status is available online.
- Review and approve Financial Status Report every month with accurate financial data and detailed PM evaluation.
- Provide timely information to Controller about financials e.g. cost provisions, LD, etc.
- Motivate and supervise project team members, internal as well as external and influence them to achieve project timelines.
- Attend meetings with customer, consultants and external suppliers.
- Coordinate for effective project closure & hand over to the customer & to Services team internally.
- Support in continuation of ISO Certification by way of adherence to related processes/work instructions.
Leadership Skills (as & when required)
- As a Manager, stimulate people, motivate and inspire them through engagement.
- Discussion with EM to ensure deployment of team members in an optimum manner in alignment with their competencies and project requirements.
- Mentoring & coaching new PMs, if applicable.
- Ability to implement standards & work processes.
- Instil confidence in customer about quality of execution and deliverables and ensure actions to maintain that till project closure.
What you can be?
Experience & Education:
- Graduate Engineer in Chemical/ Mechanical/ Production Stream having 15 + relevant experience in Project Management within EPC industry.
Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of project management related to Process industries. Understanding of engineering codes & standards. Hands on experience of ERP.
Skills:
- MS Office, MS Project or any other project management tool.
- Good command on formal written and verbal communication
- Certification in project management is desirable.
