Job Description
A Metrology Engineer develops and oversees precise measurement systems, calibration procedures, and quality control standards. They ensure manufactured parts meet exact design specifications and comply with industry regulations. These engineers collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to establish metrics, operate measurement equipment, and drive root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Calibration & Traceability: Develop and implement calibration schedules for measuring instruments to maintain accuracy and traceability to national or international standards.
- System Design & Development: Design new measurement techniques, fixtures, or software for first-article prototype verification.
- Process Optimization & Analysis: Collect and analyze measurement data using 6 σ and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to correlate part dimensions with manufacturing quality.
- Quality Compliance: Ensure all measurement processes adhere to quality frameworks (e.g., ISO standards, GD&T).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing, design, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot tolerance issues and optimize product yields.
