Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Automation Engineer to manage, maintain, and improve automation systems across production lines. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operation of automated equipment, reducing downtime, improving machine reliability, and supporting new automation installations and upgrades.The role requires strong technical expertise in PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and industrial automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Line Automation

• Monitor and maintain automation systems across all production lines.

• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, VFD, servo systems, sensors, and control panels.

• Ensure smooth functioning of automated machinery with minimum downtime.

• Provide technical support during machine breakdowns and process issues.

2. Daily Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare and submit daily automation performance reports.

• Maintain breakdown records, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action reports.

• Track machine performance, downtime trends, and maintenance history.

• Maintain automation documentation, electrical drawings, and program backups.

3. Reliability Improvement (MTBF / MTTR)

• Analyze machine failures and identify recurring issues.

• Implement improvement projects to increase MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).

• Work on reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) through preventive actions.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability.

4. Installation & Commissioning

• Lead automation activities during new machine installation and commissioning.

• Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and internal teams during project execution.

• Perform IO checks, system testing, loop checking, and trial runs.

• Ensure successful startup and stabilization of new equipment.

5. Process Improvement

• Identify automation opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and safety.

• Modify PLC/HMI logic as per process requirements.

• Support energy-saving and efficiency improvement projects.

Required Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.

• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or process industries.

• Hands-on experience in new machine installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Technical Skills

• PLC Programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi Electric, Delta Electronics)

• HMI/SCADA systems • VFDs, Servo Drives, Motion Control

• Industrial Sensors and Instrumentation

• Electrical Panel Troubleshooting

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
