Job Purpose: Head of Section - Environment is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, overseeing environmental monitoring and management systems, and leading initiatives to enhance environmental quality at the port. The role involves managing environmental projects, liaising with regulatory bodies, and ensuring the effective operation of treatment plants and waste management systems.
Environmental Monitoring:
Oversee the regular collection and testing of air, sea water, ground water, treated water, and carbon emissions, ensuring they are within prescribed limits.
Waste Management:
Oversee the management, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, e-waste, and bio-medical waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA):
Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments for all future projects to ensure compliance and sustainability.
Policy Development & Advisory:
Advise management on environmental rules and regulations, assisting in the formulation and implementation of environmental policies.
Issue Resolution & Liaison:
Address environmental issues raised by government agencies and represent the port in communications with local GPCB/MOEF officials and the corporate environment cell.
Project Management:
Lead environmental improvement projects and initiatives to enhance environmental quality in the port area.
Treatment Plant Operations:
Manage the operation and maintenance of Sewage Treatment and Effluent Treatment Plants, ensuring their effectiveness and availability.
Reporting & Clearances:
Ensure timely submission of statutory environmental reports and secure necessary environmental clearances for port operations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (GPCB/MOEF) for both ongoing operations and expansion projects.
Digital Mindset:
Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.
Team Development:
Promote a respectful and safe workplace, lead collaborative and productive teams, and mentor for growth and success.
Key Stakeholders - Internal:
Health and Safety Teams, Cross-functional Teams (HR, Operations), EHS Department
Key Stakeholders - External:
Regulatory Health and Safety Agencies, Healthcare Providers, Insurance Companies, PPE and Safety Equipment Vendors
Educational Qualification:
B.Tech Chemical/Civil / Post Graduate in Environment
Work Experience:
Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience in Manufacturing industry / port industry.
