Job Description
- ey Responsibilities1. Overall Project LeadershipAct as the highest authority and overall in-charge of project execution at the project site.
- Take complete ownership of project performance from mobilization to final handover.
- Lead and manage the entire project team, including construction, planning, billing, contracts, procurement, quality, safety, MEP, stores, and administration teams.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, reporting systems, and performance standards for all project team members.
- Make timely and effective decisions to ensure uninterrupted project execution.
- Represent the company in meetings with the client, government departments, consultants, architects, PMC, statutory authorities, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with all project stakeholders.
- 2. Project Planning & SchedulingDevelop and implement the overall Project Execution Plan and construction strategy.
- Review and approve detailed project schedules and construction programs.
- Monitor project progress against approved baseline schedules and milestones.
- Ensure timely completion of critical activities and project milestones.
- Identify delays, bottlenecks, and critical path activities and implement corrective measures.
- Conduct regular progress review meetings and issue action plans.
- Ensure effective coordination between civil, structural, architectural, MEP, finishing, and external development works.
- Plan construction activities considering manpower, materials, machinery, drawings, approvals, and financial requirements.
- 3. Construction ManagementSupervise and control all construction activities at site.
- Ensure construction is executed strictly as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, contract conditions, method statements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Review construction methodologies and ensure efficient execution practices.
- Coordinate with construction managers, project engineers, site engineers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure proper sequencing and coordination of all trades.
- Resolve technical and execution-related issues promptly.
- Optimize utilization of manpower, materials, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensure minimum wastage and maximum productivity at the project site.
- 4. Civil Engineering & Technical ResponsibilitiesPossess strong practical knowledge of civil engineering and building construction.
- Review and understand structural, architectural, civil, and MEP drawings.
- Coordinate with structural consultants, architects, and design teams for technical clarifications.
- Review technical specifications, BOQ, construction details, and shop drawings.
- Identify discrepancies and constructability issues before execution.
- Ensure proper execution of RCC, structural steel, masonry, waterproofing, plastering, flooring, façade, finishing, and external development works.
- Ensure proper inspection and approval of critical construction activities.
- Provide technical guidance to the project team and resolve complex site issues.
- 5. Quality ManagementEstablish and maintain a high-standard Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) system.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, method statements, ITPs, and applicable IS Codes and standards.
- Monitor quality of materials and workmanship.
- Ensure proper testing and inspection of construction materials.
- Review inspection reports, test reports, NCRs, and corrective action plans.
- Minimize rework, defects, wastage, and construction deficiencies.
- Ensure that all works are completed to the required quality standards before handover.
- 6. Cost & Commercial ManagementMonitor project costs and ensure execution within the approved project budget.
- Coordinate with the commercial, billing, procurement, and contracts teams.
- Monitor BOQ quantities, variations, extra items, deviations, and claims.
- Review subcontractor work orders, measurements, bills, and payment certifications.
- Ensure proper documentation of additional works and variations.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or safety.
- Monitor material consumption and control wastage.
- 7. Contract & Client ManagementUnderstand and administer the terms and conditions of the main contract.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project milestones.
- Coordinate with the client, PMC, consultants, and government authorities.
- Review and respond to technical and contractual communications.
- Support the commercial team in managing claims, variations, extensions of time, and contractual matters.
- Maintain proper records of delays, hindrances, instructions, approvals, and site events.
- Ensure that all contractual deliverables are completed within stipulated timelines.
- 8. Procurement & Resource ManagementCoordinate with procurement and purchase teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Review project material requirements and long-lead items.
- Ensure materials are procured as per approved specifications and quality requirements.
- Plan manpower and machinery requirements in advance.
- Monitor availability and productivity of labour, equipment, and resources.
- Prevent delays caused by material shortages, manpower constraints, or equipment availability.
- 9. Safety ManagementEnsure strict implementation of project Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies.
- Maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward unsafe construction practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and project safety requirements.
- Conduct regular safety reviews and inspections.
- Ensure proper PPE, work-at-height safety, scaffolding safety, lifting safety, electrical safety, and emergency procedures.
- Take immediate corrective action in case of unsafe practices or incidents.
10. Construction Management Software & TechnologyThe candidate should have strong working knowledge of modern construction planning, project management, scheduling, documentation, and collaboration software.
Preferred knowledge of:
- Primavera P6 – Project planning, scheduling, resource loading, critical path, and progress monitoring.
- Microsoft Project – Project scheduling and planning.
- AutoCAD – Review and interpretation of construction drawings.
- BIM / Revit – Understanding of BIM-based coordination and construction workflows.
- MS Excel – Advanced project tracking, MIS, dashboards, quantity analysis, and reporting.
- Power BI – Project dashboards, KPI monitoring, and management reporting.
- Construction ERP / Project Management Software – Project documentation, procurement, billing, inventory, and cost control.
- Document Management Systems (DMS/CDE) – Drawing control, document management, RFI, submittals, and approvals.
Knowledge of BIM coordination, 4D planning, 5D cost management, digital project monitoring, and construction analytics will be considered an advantage.
- 11. Project Reporting & MISPrepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
- Monitor project KPIs related to Time, Cost, Quality, Safety, Productivity, and Progress.
- Present project status and key risks to senior management.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress and resource utilization.
- Develop dashboards and management reports for decision-making.
- Provide early warnings regarding potential delays, cost overruns, technical issues, and contractual risks.
- 12. Team LeadershipLead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and professionals.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project staff.
- Set performance targets and monitor team productivity.
- Promote a culture of accountability, discipline, safety, quality, and professional excellence.
- Resolve conflicts within the project team and maintain effective communication.

- Candidate ProfileEducational QualificationBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputed institution.
- Master’s Degree in Construction Management / Project Management will be an advantage.
- Professional certifications in Project Management, PMP, Primavera, BIM, or related fields will be preferred.
- Experience15+ years of total experience in construction and project management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale building / infrastructure / government construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior project leadership position.
- Experience independently managing projects from mobilization through completion and handover.
- Experience in handling large multidisciplinary teams and multiple subcontractors.

Authority & Decision-MakingThe Senior Construction Project Manager / Project Head will have overall operational authority at the project site and will be responsible for coordinating and controlling all project execution functions.
The position will have authority to:
- Direct and coordinate all project departments and site teams.
- Allocate project resources based on project priorities.
- Coordinate and instruct subcontractors within contractual authority.
- Stop or suspend defective or unsafe work.
- Approve execution methodologies and work sequences within delegated authority.
- Escalate critical technical, financial, contractual, and safety issues to senior management.
- Recommend corrective actions, resource changes, and project interventions.
- Ensure that all project decisions are aligned with company policies and contractual obligations.
