Role Summary

This is an India-based global leadership role supporting Amgen's global obesity business, with significant focus on the U.S. market. The role builds the commercial analytics capability that informs strategy, sales execution, customer engagement, payer/pricing decisions, and growth priorities.

The mandate is to turn ambiguous questions into clear choices. Working with global commercial leaders and U.S. stakeholders, this leader converts business needs into scalable analysis, decision frameworks, and reusable insight products that help leaders allocate resources, identify execution gaps, and act with confidence.

Success requires sound commercial judgment, clear executive communication, and a strong understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical selling models, field dynamics, HCP and account engagement, and the data ecosystems used to guide commercialization. The Director will build and continuously strengthen an India-based commercial analytics capability recognized by global commercial leaders for trusted judgment, execution excellence, measurable business impact, and the ability to anticipate evolving business needs.

  • Synthesize market, customer, competitive, and policy insights into clear assessments of launch readiness.
  • Synthesize diverse internal and external data to identify opportunities, risks, and strategic priorities. Convert them into executive-ready narratives that clarify implications and decisions.

3. HCP, Account & Field Effectiveness

  • Lead analysis for field sizing, customer segmentation, HCP/account engagement, and field execution.
  • Develop national and sub-national insights that guide resource allocation, launch sequencing, and customer prioritization
  • Work across commercial, medical, market access, and product teams to evaluate strategic options and inform planning.
  • Advance patient journey, market landscape, and stakeholder insights to inform priorities.
  • Develop executive-ready insights that anticipate risks, highlight opportunities, and enable confident choices.

4. Advanced Analytics & Decision Translation

  • Develop predictive models, scenario simulations, segmentation approaches, and driver analyses to answer high-value business questions.
  • Apply quantitative techniques to estimate demand, assess adoption drivers, and evaluate the impact of market and competitive changes.
  • Industrialize analytical methods through scalable, governed, and reusable solutions in partnership with data science and technology teams.
  • Establish analytical standards, validation practices, and documentation that improve consistency, transparency, and confidence in outputs.
  • Expand the use of automation, AI, and experimentation to accelerate delivery and increase analytical rigor.

5. Operating Model & Capability Building

  • Own the commercial analytics operating model for domain intake, prioritization, standards, delivery cadence, quality, and adoption.
  • Standardize recurring work into reusable insight products, tools, and methods where scale creates value.
  • Clarify how the function partners with forecasting, primary market research, and technology colleagues to deliver integrated work.
  • Improve speed, consistency, and impact through pragmatic reuse, automation, and fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Build a connected capability recognized by the global obesity business for judgment, reliability, and business partnership.

  • Create an environment of analytical excellence, accountability, curiosity, continuous learning, and ownership.
  • Coach future leaders by expanding their commercial judgment, technical depth, strategic thinking, executive communication, and ability to influence across a global organization.
