Job Description

Job Summary: The India Subject Matter Expert (HR Operations) will serve as the go-to expert for statutory compliance, payroll input accuracy, and HR operations processes across the organization. The role owns end-to-end execution and advisory support on Indian labour law compliance, payroll inputs, employee lifecycle management, and system/process improvements, acting as an individual contributor working closely with HRBPs, Global Payroll, Legal, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Input Management: Own end-to-end payroll input accuracy and timeliness (new joiners, exits, salary changes, LOP, arrears, full & final settlements) in coordination with the Global Payroll team ensuring compliance with local laws, and resolving any payroll discrepancies in collaboration with Global Payroll team.
  • Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Support POSH Act (2013) compliance — Internal Committee (IC) coordination, quarterly/annual reporting, case management support, and mandatory awareness training.
    • Maintain statutory registers and ensure timely filings/returns (PF ECR, ESI challans, PT returns, LWF, annual returns under Shops & Establishment) and support statutory/labour audits, both internal and by regulatory authorities.
    • Liaise with legal/compliance and external consultants on labour law updates, notifications, and inspections; act as the internal subject matter reference point for statutory queries.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Manage onboarding, offboarding, employee data management, and HR documentation — including statutory documentation full & final settlement compliance within statutory timelines.
  • HR Systems: Maintain and enhance HRIS (Workday & ServiceNow) to improve data quality, statutory reporting accuracy, and process efficiency; partner with IT on implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate HR operations processes for automation, standardization, and compliance risk reduction; recommend and help implement improvements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with HRBPs, People Advisors, Legal, Finance, and business leaders to ensure statutory and process alignment with business needs.
  • Employee Queries: Resolve employee queries on HR operations, payroll, and policy matters with customer centricity; escalate and collaborate with PA/HRBPs as needed.
  • ServiceNow Dashboard / Quality & KPI Management: Track SLA/KPI adherence, conduct quality checks, and drive continuous process improvement, including compliance-risk KPIs (filing delays, audit non-conformities).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, or Business Administration; MBA/Master's in HR preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in HR operations, with demonstrated depth in Indian statutory compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian labour law and statutory compliance — PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Gratuity, Bonus, POSH, Shops & Establishment Act, and awareness of the new Labour Codes.
  • Experience managing or directly supporting statutory audits, inspections, and government filings.
  • Proficient in HRIS (Workday, ServiceNow) and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced global environment.
