Job Description
Key Responsibilities
A comprehensive facilities manager role is generally broken down into hard services (infrastructure) and soft services (occupant comfort and administration): [1, 2, 3]
- Building Maintenance: Inspecting facilities to identify repair needs, coordinating routine preventive maintenance, and overseeing emergency repairs on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. [1, 2]
- Vendor & Contract Management: Procuring and supervising external contractors for tasks like landscaping, janitorial services, catering, and security. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Budgeting & Financials: Forecasting and tracking facilities-related expenditures, minimizing utility/operational costs, and monitoring annual maintenance contracts. [1, 2]
- Health & Safety Compliance: Enforcing workplace safety precautions, ensuring adherence to local fire/accessibility codes, and managing emergency preparedness. [1, 2]
- Space Management: Organizing workspace layouts, allocating office space, and assisting with company relocations or refurbishments. [1, 2]
