Job Description
- A procurement officer manages an organizations purchasing activities. They source high-quality, cost-efficient goods and services, negotiate vendor contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure all purchases comply with company standards and budgets.Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing & Vendor Management: Identify reliable suppliers, conduct market research, and maintain an updated database of approved vendors.Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate the best pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms. Draft, review, and manage service level agreements (SLAs).Purchasing & Compliance: Process purchase orders (POs), track deliveries, and ensure all purchases adhere to internal organizational policies and external regulatory standards.Budget & Cost Control: Prepare and forecast procurement budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.Inventory & Quality Control: Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages, inspect delivered goods for quality, and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers.Essential RequirementsEducation: A bachelors degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Experience: Typically 25 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain. Professional certifications like CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are highly advantageous.Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and MS Office.
