About the Role

Northon's Media is seeking a motivated and proactive WordPress Developer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a range of websites, membership portals, online communities, directories, event platforms, and other digital projects.

This role requires someone who can take ownership of website development projects, implement new features and integrations, maintain platform performance and security, and support the ongoing growth of our digital products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customise, maintain, and optimise WordPress websites, membership portals, online communities, directories, event platforms, and other digital projects.
• Configure and manage themes, plugins, custom functionality, and integrations to meet evolving business requirements.
• Build and enhance membership and community features, including user registration, member profiles, directories, networking tools, forums, private messaging, resource libraries, and member-only content areas.
• Integrate and manage third-party systems, including CRM platforms, email marketing tools, webinar and event software, payment gateways, analytics, and API connections.
• Continuously improve website functionality, user experience, performance, scalability, and security across all digital platforms.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, bugs, and compatibility challenges.
• Perform regular updates, backups, security checks, and maintenance of WordPress core, themes, plugins, and hosting environments.
• Research and implement new technologies, plugins, and features to support future business growth.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop new digital products and platform enhancements.
• Ensure all websites and platforms are fully responsive, SEO-friendly, secure, and optimised for speed and performance.

Required Skills & Experience Essential

• 2–3 years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Strong knowledge of WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Experience customising WordPress themes and plugins.
• Experience with Elementor and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
• Experience working with website hosting environments and domain management.
• Understanding of website security, optimisation, and performance best practices.
• Experience developing responsive and mobile-friendly websites.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

Experience with WordPress membership and community platforms such as BuddyBoss, BuddyPress, Fluent Community, MemberPress, Ultimate Member, or similar solutions.

Familiarity with Elementor, Gutenberg, WPBakery, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).

Experience integrating payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal), CRM systems, email marketing tools, webinar platforms, and third-party APIs.

Knowledge of WooCommerce, Google Analytics, website migrations, hosting, SEO, and performance optimisation would be advantageous
