CNC Machine Operator

he CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines such as Vertical Machining Center (VMC), Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL), and CNC Lathe to produce precision components as per engineering drawings while ensuring quality, productivity, and safety.

Roles & Responsibilities

Operate CNC VMC, VTL, and CNC Lathe machines as per production requirements.

Perform machine setup, tool loading, and offset adjustments.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.

Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and measuring instruments.

Load and unload raw materials and finished components safely.

Monitor machining operations and ensure dimensional accuracy.

Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments.

Use precision measuring tools such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, and Dial Indicator.

Make tool offset corrections to maintain product quality.

Replace worn-out tools and maintain tool life.

Maintain production records, inspection reports, and machine logbooks.

Follow production targets while minimizing rejection and rework.

Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.

Identify machine abnormalities and report breakdowns to the maintenance team.

Follow 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and all shop floor safety standards.

Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

Hands-on experience in operating CNC VMC, VTL, and CNC Lathe machines.

Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.

Knowledge of CNC machine controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.).

Understanding of machining parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut.

Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and tool offset setting.

Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Good understanding of production and quality requirements.
