Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

A Sheet Metal Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing sheet metal components and assemblies using CAD software. The role involves translating engineering concepts into manufacturable designs while ensuring accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards.

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of sheet metal parts and assemblies using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Develop flat patterns, bend allowances, and manufacturing drawings for fabrication.
• Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and clients to understand design requirements.
• Ensure designs meet manufacturing feasibility, quality standards, and cost targets.
• Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical documentation.
• Review and revise designs based on feedback, testing, or production issues.
• Optimize designs for material usage, weight, and performance.
• Maintain design records and version control.
• Required Skills & Qualifications:Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes (cutting, bending, punching, welding).
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
