Job Description

Position: Hospital Receptionist

Department: Front Office / Reception

Reports To: Hospital Manager / Front Office In-Charge

Job SummaryThe Hospital Receptionist is responsible for providing a professional and courteous first point of contact for patients and visitors. The receptionist manages patient registration, appointments, billing coordination, telephone calls, and front office operations while ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining patient confidentiality.



  1. Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesWelcome patients, attendants, visitors, and guide them to the appropriate department.
  2. Register new patients and maintain accurate patient demographic records.
  3. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm OPD appointments with consultants.
  4. Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls professionally.
  5. Verify patient details and collect required documents during registration.
  6. Coordinate with doctors, nurses, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and billing departments.
  7. Generate patient registration forms, OPD files, and other required documents.
  8. Collect consultation fees and issue receipts as per hospital policy (if assigned).
  9. Maintain appointment registers, patient records, and front office reports.
  10. Assist patients with admission, discharge, and referral procedures.
  11. Respond to patient queries and resolve complaints politely or escalate them to the Hospital Manager.
  12. Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and NABH standards.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the reception area.
  14. Support emergency patient registration without delay.
  15. Perform any additional duties assigned by the Hospital Management
