About the Role:

We are looking for a highly adaptable Mechanical Engineering intern to drive physical prototyping for our incubated startups. You will act as the execution engine—translating abstract founder ideas into functional, manufacturable hardware. We value exploratory, real-world application over rote memorization. If you prefer theory over building, this is not the role for you.

What You'll Do (The Prototyping Workflow):

• Requirements Sync: Intake mechanical specifications from founders and the Design Lead.

• Digital Drafting: Develop initial 2D profiles and basic structural layouts.

• 3D CAD & Simulation: Model full assemblies and run essential structural stress testing (FEA) to validate kinematics and load-bearing integrity.

• DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Optimize digital models specifically for our workshop's physical capabilities, ensuring high nesting efficiency and minimal waste.

• Physical Fabrication: Execute the build using 3D printing and precise CNC machining.

• Assembly & Iteration: Assemble physical prototypes, test for mechanical tolerances, and rapidly iterate based on real-world performance.

Required Technical Arsenal & Skills:

• CAD Software Mastery: Deep fluency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD.

• Simulation Tools: Practical experience running simulations in ANSYS to validate your models before fabrication.

• Manufacturing Skills: Hands-on capability with 3D printer operation, CNC cutting/nesting protocols, and manual workshop assembly.

• Mindset: A builder who takes pride in manufacturable, clean designs, and possesses the extreme adaptability needed to tackle untested mechanical challenges and quick direction pivots.
