ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT – PERFORMANCE AND ATTRIBUTION, ASSET MANAGEMENT
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is an over a trillion-dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives.
The Associate Consultant – Performance and Attribution role emphasizes business delivery, control, and governance function within the Global P&A operating model. This role will also help drive and create impact by supporting the development and operationalization of focused business areas, processes, and critical projects within NTAM business.
KEY AND DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with direct stakeholders globally to strengthen and develop the business delivery functions of Performance and Attribution at Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM).
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specific NTAM investment capabilities with familiarity across other NTAM product offerings.
Provide necessary supervision on day-to-day business deliverables and support junior partners on queries, issue resolution etc. (wherever needed).
Create ad hoc custom reports as per instructions from Investment Associates, Portfolio Managers and Account Managers.
Produce and analyze Attribution Reports as per the requirements shared by Portfolio Managers or clients directly.
Respond to RFI/RFP queries from Consultants and Investment Associates.
Participates and contributes towards strategic and special projects within performance and attribution domains.
Function as Workstream Lead for internal process improvement initiatives independently and/or partnering with other P&A partners and demonstrate measurable results.
Interfaces with Senior Management, Portfolio Managers, Strategic Product Group, Client Reporting and/or Client Servicing partners to understand service delivery expectations and works industriously towards improving them.
Provides necessary feedback to Management and proposes suggestions/solutions to eliminate identified gaps within business deliverables and implements necessary control functions in consultation with Business Leads and Managers.
Act as Onboarding buddy to new joiners and setup necessary application accesses. Proactively plan and arrange for necessary training with appropriate business partners.
Work on collecting and sharing all relevant business KPIs with management on regular intervals to improve sound decision making.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Solid analytical skills and problem-solving expertise in performance measurement, attribution, and other associated reporting processes.
Sound knowledge of various investment vehicles, fund types and portfolio accounting would be a plus.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to develop presentation materials.
Strong skillset inclusive of project management tools with ability to organize, structure and process data sets efficiently and effectively into meaningful and actionable insights.
Adept in usage of Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and other M365 applications suite.
Highly flexible, adaptable to change and comfortable in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
Excellent prioritization skills and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
For Internal Application - 24 months as a Senior Analyst.
Graduate degree in Finance or Risk and/or another appropriate academic major (MBA/CFA/CIPM or equivalent is preferred).
Minimum 5 years of Investments/Asset Management industry experience with impressive understanding of investment reports, performance return calculations and attribution models.
Strong working knowledge of Investment applications like Blackrock's Aladdin suite, Eagle Accounting/Performance suite, PACE, Bloomberg, FactSet, Institutional Investor Passport (IIP) and 3rd Party consultant websites like Morningstar, eVestment etc.
Demonstrated ability to write strong PowerPoint presentations to communicate progress, issues/risk, and results. Demonstrated ability to leverage data and insights to tell a story.
