Staff Software Engineer, Network Security

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in software development.
  
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  
• Experience with network security, large scale distributed systems, cloud, and system architecture.
• Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• Experience in a technical leadership role, including experience managing software engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS) and network security principles (e.g., DDoS mitigation, WAF, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, threat intelligence).

You will be responsible for protecting Google Cloud customers from a wide array of threats. Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical strategy, architecture, and road map for significant areas within Cloud Armor, Network Threat Intelligence, and NGFWE.
• Lead ideation and implementation of AI/ML features and capabilities to enhance threat detection, automate responses, and improve the efficacy of  network security products.
• Collaborate closely with other teams (both local and global) to deliver robust, scalable, and customer-focused security solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, review designs and code, and ensure the team adheres to best practices in software development, security, reliability, and the ethical application of AI.
• Lead, mentor the technical talent in the team, fostering a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, collaboration.
