About the Program
The InSight Entrepreneurship Program addresses a simple but significant challenge: poor near vision (presbyopia), which affects millions of people across India. Through this program, local entrepreneurs are trained to conduct basic vision screenings and sell affordable reading glasses within their communities.
This model aims to improve productivity and income for individuals while also creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for entrepreneurs. The long-term goal is to build a strong network of entrepreneurs across India and improve millions of lives.
Role Overview
The/Nudge is looking for a highly driven and execution-oriented State Lead - Tamil Nadu to manage and strengthen field operations for the InSight Entrepreneurship Program across the state.
This is a hands-on, field-focused role suited for professionals with 4-7 years of relevant experience in field operations, sales, rural development, or livelihood programs. The role requires close collaboration with team leads and local entrepreneurs to ensure strong on-ground execution, target achievement, and program growth across districts.
This is not a desk-based strategy role. It is a high-ownership execution role that requires frequent travel, active problem-solving, and direct field engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Field Team
- Lead and manage a team of Team Leads across districts in Tamil Nadu.
- Support Team Leads in overseeing Block Leads and local entrepreneurs.
- Ensure teams remain active, motivated, and aligned to program goals.
- Build accountability and strengthen field execution through regular reviews and support.
Drive Monthly Targets: Own and improve key monthly performance indicators across districts, including:
- Number of entrepreneurs onboarded.
- Number of vision screenings conducted.
- Number of reading glasses sold.
- Income earned by entrepreneurs.
- The role requires ensuring that field activities are consistently happening on the ground every day and that teams are working toward clear performance goals.
Solve Ground-Level Problems
- Identify reasons for low performance in specific districts or blocks.
- Address issues such as low activity, entrepreneur drop-off, training gaps, and execution challenges.
- Visit districts regularly to provide hands-on support and improve performance directly.
- Work closely with teams to remove bottlenecks and maintain momentum.
Work with Local Stakeholders
- Coordinate with district officials, NGOs, and local partners.
- Build trust and visibility for the program within local ecosystems.
- Strengthen relationships that support effective implementation and expansion.
- Help Scale the Program
- Identify field practices and approaches that are delivering strong results.
- Replicate successful models across districts.
- Support expansion into new geographies within the state.
Candidate Profile
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has 4-7 years of experience in field operations, sales, rural programs, livelihood programs, or similar execution-focused roles.
- Has managed on-ground teams and is comfortable leading distributed field operations.
- Is willing to travel frequently across districts in Tamil Nadu.
- Can drive targets, monitor performance, and hold teams accountable.
- Is practical, action-oriented, and effective at solving operational problems.
- Can work closely with entrepreneurs, frontline teams, and local stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong team management capabilities.
- Basic data tracking and reporting skills using Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong communication skills in Tamil and English.
- Ownership mindset with strong follow-through.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a pure strategy or planning role.
- Not a desk job.
- Not a senior leadership role.
- This is a high-ownership field execution role focused on driving day-to-day performance and outcomes on the ground.
