Job Description
A Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment and machinery used in manufacturing plants, construction sites, power plants, refineries, and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Assemble and fit mechanical components, pipes, shafts, bearings, pumps, valves, and gear systems.
- Perform installation, alignment, and calibration of machinery and equipment.
- Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding, and measuring instruments safely.
- Replace defective machine parts and ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain maintenance records and job reports.
- Follow workplace safety standards and permit systems.
- Coordinate with electricians, welders, and production teams during shutdowns and maintenance activities.
