KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for Lead Onshore Civil & Structural Designer / Checker to support Onshore Oil & Gas Development Projects involving large-scale processing units, utility facilities and associated infrastructure. The role supports FEED and Detailed Engineering phases under high-value execution, requiring advanced 3D modelling integration, multidisciplinary coordination, strict quality compliance, and adherence to fast-track project schedules across global execution centres.

Summary Section 

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Civil & Structural Designer / Checker responsible for supervising modelling and drafting activities, performing model and drawing checks, and ensuring compliance with project standards and engineering requirements for onshore facilities. The role includes development, review, and verification of structural 3D models and construction drawings using E3D or Smart 3D (S3D), Microstation and AutoCAD. The candidate will coordinate closely with structural engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure design accuracy, constructability, and effective model integration while supporting project execution across FEED and Detailed Engineering stages. The position also involves mentoring designers, managing deliverable quality, and supporting project schedules and technical reviews.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise civil and structural modelling and drafting activities for onshore facilities including pipe racks, technological structures, equipment and machine foundations, shelters, platforms, modular structures, and tank foundation systems.
• Develop, review, and check 3D structural models using AVEVA E3D or Smart 3D (S3D) to ensure compliance with engineering design inputs and project standards.
• Perform detailed checking and approval of civil and structural drawings including foundation layouts, reinforcement drawings, structural GA drawings, sections, and fabrication details prepared using AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Ensure accurate implementation of engineering inputs, vendor data, equipment loads, and interdisciplinary interfaces within models and drawings.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, piping, layout, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams to resolve model clashes and design interface issues.
• Conduct model reviews and support interdisciplinary clash detection activities to ensure constructability and installation feasibility.
• Guide and mentor junior designers and drafting teams to maintain modelling standards and project quality requirements.
• Monitor deliverables to ensure compliance with project schedules, company procedures, and quality standards.
• Review Material Take-Offs (MTOs) generated from 3D models and ensure accuracy of quantities.
• Support FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables including drawing development, revisions, and incorporation of site survey or brownfield inputs.
• Provide technical support during construction, fabrication, and site execution phases including resolution of site queries and drawing updates.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or above.
• Minimum 15–25 years of experience in civil and structural modelling and drafting for onshore oil & gas, renewable energy projects.
• Extensive hands-on experience in 3D modelling using AVEVA E3D or Smart 3D (S3D).
• Strong expertise in preparation and checking of civil and structural drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Proven experience in modelling and detailing of pipe racks, equipment foundations, machine foundations, tank foundations, shelters, and steel structures.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, structural layouts, and construction practices.
• Experience in drawing and model checking, quality control, and deliverable verification processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations, vendor drawings, and design inputs.
• Good coordination, communication, and leadership skills within multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working as Lead Designer or Checker on FEED and Detailed Engineering for oil & gas sector facilities.
• Experience in brownfield, revamp projects, and site survey-based model updates.
• Familiarity with project modelling standards, design workflows, and model administration practices.
• Experience in model review sessions and constructability reviews with clients and project teams.
• Exposure to extraction and validation of MTOs and construction deliverables from 3D modelling environments.
• Experience working with international clients and multi-office engineering execution environments.
