Job Description
Job Title: Avionics Engineer (Guidance, Navigation & Control)
Team: Jwala Missile Project
Position Summary:
The Avionics Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of the entire electronic suite of the Jwala missile. This includes the guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) system, flight computer, telemetry, power distribution, and all associated sensors and actuators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop the missile's flight control hardware, including the mission computer, sensor interfaces (IMU, GPS, altimeter), and actuator drivers.
- Develop and implement the guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for trajectory tracking, flight stabilization, and terminal guidance.
- Select and integrate all key avionics components, including Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), GPS receivers, radar/IR seekers, and data links.
- Design the power distribution system (PDS), including power conversion, battery management, and protection circuitry.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulations to validate system performance.
- Support the system integration and flight test campaigns by analyzing telemetry data and troubleshooting avionics issues.
- Manage the avionics system architecture, wiring harnesses, and ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) between all subsystems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience in avionics systems design, with a focus on GNC or embedded systems for aerospace/defense applications.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Hands-on experience with circuit design, PCB layout, and debugging using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
- Deep understanding of control theory, Kalman filtering, and sensor fusion.
- Experience with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with missile guidance systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (MIL-STD-1553, CAN bus, RS-485).
- Knowledge of FPGA design and VHDL/Verilog programming.
