Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with at least 5 years of proven experience in the design, engineering, and preparation of drawings for EHV substations, transmission lines, and heavy industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and engineering deliverables for EHV substations, transmission lines, and heavy industrial facilities.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment specifications, BOQs, and detailed construction drawings.
• Perform electrical calculations including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, grounding/earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, CT sizing, and voltage drop.
• Design primary and secondary systems for AIS/GIS substations, including transformers, switchgear, protection, control, SCADA, and communication interfaces.
• Support transmission line engineering, including route-related electrical inputs, conductor selection, sag & tension calculation, insulation coordination, and associated drawings.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and project teams to ensure integrated designs.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC, IEEE, IS, CEA, utility, and client standards.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
• Review vendor documents, resolve technical queries, and support quality checks of engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering for EHV substations, transmission lines, and/or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of EHV/MV/LV power systems, substation primary and secondary engineering, protection and control systems, and earthing design.
• Experience preparing and reviewing detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, CYME, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred

• Experience with AIS/GIS substations at 66 kV and above.
• Experience in renewable energy, steel, cement, mining, oil & gas, or other heavy industrial projects.
• Exposure to EPC project environments, vendor coordination, and site execution/commissioning.
