Job Description

A Business Development Manager (BDM) drives company growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding market presence. They are go-to-market leaders responsible for researching target markets, nurturing leads, negotiating deals, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to boost long-term revenue.


Key Responsibilities

  • Market Expansion: Research organizations and markets to identify new leads, business opportunities, and areas for potential growth.
  • Lead Generation & Pitching: Contact potential clients via cold calling, networking, and industry events to arrange meetings and establish rapport.
  • Deal Negotiation: Develop quotes, tailor proposals, and negotiate contract terms with prospective clients to close profitable deals.
  • Relationship Management: Nurture existing client accounts to ensure long-term satisfaction and identify opportunities for upsells.
  • Strategy & Forecasting: Develop business development goals and sales pipelines, tracking progress through accurate performance metrics and data analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to align business goals with overall company offerings. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]



Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to pitch ideas and build strong client relationships.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends, assess competitor positioning, and identify long-term growth paths.
  • Negotiation & Closing: Strong commercial awareness and a proven track record of converting leads into signed contracts.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and data analysis tools to forecast accurately.
