Position: Restaurant Manager

Owner / General Manager / Director of Operations

Job Summary:

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient staff management, financial performance, and compliance with company policies and industry standards. The role involves leading the restaurant team, driving sales growth, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring profitability while delivering outstanding customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Manage and oversee all daily restaurant operations.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient service during all operating hours.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and hygiene.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency.


Team Leadership & Human Resources

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop restaurant staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Create employee schedules and manage labor costs effectively.
  • Foster a positive work environment and maintain high employee morale.
  • Handle employee relations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.


Guest Experience Management

  • Ensure all guests receive exceptional service and hospitality.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Build strong guest relationships to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements where necessary.


Financial Management

  • Achieve revenue, profitability, and budget targets.
  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
  • Control operational expenses and labor costs.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures and financial transactions.
  • Develop strategies to increase sales and improve profitability.


Inventory & Procurement Management

  • Oversee inventory levels and stock control procedures.
  • Manage purchasing and vendor relationships.
  • Minimize waste and ensure cost-effective inventory management.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliations.


Marketing & Business Development

  • Support promotional campaigns, events, and marketing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase guest traffic and revenue.
  • Collaborate with management to implement growth strategies.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.


Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
  • Prepare management reports and business performance updates.
  • Ensure all licenses and certifications remain valid and up to date.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of restaurant experience with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in casual dining, fine dining, café, QSR, or hospitality operations.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant management systems and POS software.
