Job Summary

The Head of Logistics will be responsible for end-to-end logistics operations including inbound, outbound, transportation, courier partner management, cost optimization, service level performance, and compliance. The role focuses on improving delivery performance, reducing costs, managing courier partners, and ensuring timely and accurate shipment execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management 

• Oversee day-to-day logistics operations including pickups, line haul, last-mile delivery, RTO, and reverse logistics.

• Ensure on-time pickup and delivery performance (SLA adherence).

• Monitor shipment ageing, OFD, in-transit, delayed and lost shipments and ensure t imely closure.

• Drive continuous improvement in delivery success rate and TAT. 

2. Courier & Vendor Management 

• Manage relationships with courier partners.

• Negotiate contracts and rates.

• Review courier performance (delivery %, RTO %, POD, NDR resolution).

• Align shipment volume with best-performing partners. 

3. Cost & Performance Control 

• Control freight costs and optimize cost per shipment.

• Validate invoices, identify discrepancies, raise disputes, and ensure timely credit notes.

• Monitor fuel surcharge, weight disputes, and misrouting charges. 

4. Team Leadership 

• Lead and manage logistics, operations, and coordination teams.

• Set targets, conduct performance reviews, and ensure skill development.

• Ensure clear communication and accountability across teams. 

5. Process & Compliance 

• Design and improve processes for logistics operations.

• Maintain accurate documentation including PODs, MIS, and reports

6. Data, Reporting & MIS

• Track daily, weekly, and monthly logistics MIS.

• Analyse trends in delays, RTOs, losses, and escalations.

7. Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with sales, courier spoc’s and tech teams.

• Handle escalations related to customer delivery issues. 

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of logistics, courier operations, and supply chain

• Data-driven decision making (Excel, MIS, dashboards)

• Leadership and people management skills

• Problem-solving and escalation handling

• Excellent communication and coordination skills

Experience

• 4–5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain

• Minimum 2–3 years in a leadership/managerial role

• Experience in e-commerce, 3PL, or courier industry preferred
