Job Description

Role Overview-

The Finance Analyst will play a critical role in driving financial performance and profitability for the business. This role is critical for driving profitability and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Budgeting & Financial Planning-

• Build annual and monthly budgets for each outlet and overall business.

• Create revenue projections based on historical sales, seasonality, and growth plans

 • Work with operations to define cost benchmarks (food cost %, labour %, overheads)

 • Continuously update forecasts based on actual performance

2. COGS & Cost Control -

• Monitor and control Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) across outlets

 • Track food cost %, wastage %, and variance against standards

 • Identify leakages, pilferage, over-portioning, and vendor price issues

 • Work with kitchen and procurement teams to optimize recipes and sourcing costs

 • Set up daily/weekly cost tracking systems  

3. Sales, Purchase & Margin Analysis

• Analyse daily sales trends (SKU-level, category-level, outlet-level)

 • Track purchase patterns and vendor pricing fluctuations

 • Monitor gross margins and contribution margins.

• Identify high-performing vs low-performing menu items.

• Recommend pricing changes or menu engineering improvements.

4. MIS & Reporting -

• Design and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly MIS dashboards 

• Publish reports on:  Sales vs targets 

COGS vs benchmarks 

Outlet-wise profitability 

Expense trends  

5. Variance Analysis & Performance Tracking

• Conduct budget vs actual analysis across all cost heads 

• Highlight key deviations (food cost spike, labour inefficiency, rent impact, etc.) 

• Provide clear reasons + action plan for each variance 

• Track KPIs like:  Food cost % , Prime cost (COGS + labour) , EBITDA per outlet  

6. Outlet-Level Profitability Analysis

• Evaluate P&L for each outlet individually 

• Identify: o Loss-making outlets o High-margin outlets o Cost-heavy locations

7. Inventory & Working Capital Control

• Monitor inventory levels, stock turnover, and dead stock 

• Ensure accurate stock reconciliation with POS/accounting data 

• Reduce cash blockage in inventory 

• Improve vendor payment cycles and credit terms

8. Cross-Functional Coordination-

• Work closely with: o Operations team → cost control & efficiency o Kitchen team → recipe costing & wastage control o Procurement → vendor negotiations & pricing 

• Act as a bridge between finance and ground operation  

9. Expansion & New Outlet Financial Planning

• Build financial models for new outlets 

• Estimate: o Setup cost o Break-even timeline o Expected ROI 

• Evaluate location feasibility from a financial standpoint 

10. Process Improvement & Controls

• Set up SOPs for cost tracking and reporting 

• Introduce checks to prevent fraud, leakage, and inefficiencies 

• Automate reports using Excel / BI tools where possible

11. Audit & Compliance Support

• Support internal and external audits with required data 

• Ensure financial data is accurate, consistent, and audit-ready 

• Work alongside accountant for clean books and reporting integrity

Requirements

• CA / MBA Finance / CFA (preferred) 

• 4–8+ years experience in finance analysis.

• Strong experience in COGS, inventory, and cost control.

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, dashboards, financial modeling) 

• Experience with ERP systems Preferred Traits

• Strong analytical thinking 

• Business-oriented mindset (not just accounting) 

• Smart thinking and prompt attitude.
