Job Description
A Purchase Manager for a civil construction company is responsible for the end-to-end procurement process—sourcing, negotiating, and acquiring materials and services (such as steel, cement, concrete, and heavy machinery) necessary for construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Planning & Strategy: Develops, manages, and implements procurement policies, strategies, and budgets for civil projects, aligning them with project schedules.
- Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identifies, evaluates, and selects suppliers/subcontractors based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiates pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Material Coordination: Coordinates with site teams to plan requirements and ensures timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Ensures procured items meet project specifications, technical standards, and quality norms.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Tracks expenditures, prepares comparative statements (apple-to-apple), and reports on purchasing performance against the budget.
