Senior Oracle Applications & Database Lead

The opportunity

Within a rapidly evolving technology landscape, EY GDS Delivery Excellence supports global clients by delivering resilient, scalable, and secure enterprise platforms. As a Senior Oracle Applications & Database Lead, you will play a critical role in owning and governing mission-critical application, middleware, and database environments, while driving operational excellence, cloud transformation, and high performance teams across global engagements.

Your key responsibilities

• Be the technical owner for mission-critical and non-critical Oracle Applications, Middleware, and Database systems across production and non-production environments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Application DBAs and Database Administrators.
• Oversee installation, upgrade, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle Applications, Oracle Databases, and Middleware technologies within large enterprise implementations.
• Design, own, and implement technical architecture solutions aligned to industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
• Establish and govern operational processes including monitoring, incident management, change management, capacity planning, and backup strategies.
• Support teams in diagnosing and resolving complex service outages, availability issues, and performance bottlenecks in high-throughput environments.
• Build preventive and automation-based solutions to reduce recurring incidents and operational risks.
• Participate in bids, proposals, technical reviews, solution blueprints, and architecture solutioning activities.
• Drive on-premise to cloud and cloud-to-cloud migration initiatives using native and third-party tools.
• Ensure continuous service improvement, risk mitigation, and delivery excellence across all supported platforms.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Over 15+ years of experience maintaining mission-critical and non-critical applications, middleware, and database systems.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, and Middleware technologies.
• Proven experience installing, upgrading, and configuring Oracle technologies within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong experience leading and managing teams of Application DBAs and Database Administrators.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a computer-related discipline with relevant professional certifications.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with backup management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Proven experience executing cloud migration initiatives using native and third-party tools.

 

Additionally, good to have

• Experience defining and implementing DBA practices with measurable and reportable KPIs.
• Strong operational management skills with ability to provide authoritative technical guidance.
• Hands-on experience managing both production and non-production workloads.
• Exposure to enterprise governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Strong presentation and executive-level communication skills.
